Final day of Rally Japan is live
The third and final day of Rally Japan began from 0600hrs this morning when drivers collected their cars from the Sapporo Dome overnight parc ferme and drove them to their team zones for a 15-minute service.
From there they headed out into the countryside south of Sapporo for the first of nine Special Stages. After a loop of five consecutive speed tests in the morning, culminating in a fifth visit to the Sapporo Dome Super Special, the action pauses for a 30-minute service before four of the stages are repeated in the afternoon.
Sunday’s itinerary comprises 96.03 stage kilometres and finishes earlier than the two previous days. The winning car is scheduled to reach the podium in Sapporo at 1500hrs.
The weather was clear but chilly at 0600hrs and the temperature on the first stage (Koyka) was a frosty -2 degrees Celsius. Road conditions were damp to dry early on but showers are expected later in the morning, with heavier rain moving into the stage region in the afternoon. Today’s temperature is expected to peak at 13 degrees Celsius.
Crews tackle Sunday’s stages in rally leading order, which puts Mikko Hirvonen through first, followed by Jari-Matti Latvala and Sebastien Loeb. Here’s the rest of today’s WRC start order:
